After joining the group, we had our first meeting online on Monday, 17th February. Prepared with my thoughts on the most recent draft, I was happy with the changes, primarily for the ending, which I felt developed the character of Rose in a more believable and realistic way.

During our discussion, we nailed down all the questions about the project and looked at some storyboards before finalising the Letterboxd list and preparing the pitch.

I put together a sizzle reel with an inspirational story, and cinematography-wise

Unfortunately, after our pitch, the project got redlit. We do hope to possibly try to create this at some point in the future, but this was our feedback:

  • There were only three team members signed up to this project, with a lot of the work falling on the shoulders of the Writer/Director, who is also signed onto two different projects, which are progressing to the next stage.

  • The final act of the story still hadn’t been developed as much as it could have been. It still felt a little coincidental that Rose suddenly remembered everything about the murder victim while walking home, the defensive weapon she uses had not been clarified, and the Writer/Director hadn’t visited the location the team had chosen for the final scenes, which meant that he didn’t have fresh ideas about how to use the space to make Rose’s fight feel exciting.

  • It was felt that other teams had a stronger personal engagement with their material.
